Airport madness 3, the delay

Whelp, im stuck in dublin till 11 now, this day isn't going exactly as planned.

Airport madness 2

Welcome to my thursday morning of planes trains and automobiles!

Its not as exciting as you think, rather relaxing really aside from the shock of finding a mall in the middle of the departure terminal. I think I might head to the bar before my flight,  soak up those last pounds before heading to dublin. For now I wait though,  flight is in a couple hours and ive got nothing to do.

For those of you still in london and continuing to paris I wish you my best and hope it is amazing, really enjoyed traveling with you four and I look forward to seeing the rest of the trip on the blog.

For those I'm returning to, ill be back the evening of the 16th,  I will see you then, but might need some time to recover.

So to cover a couple of days...

Yesterday was spent running around the city and seeing the sights once more after twelve years, aside from some old memories and seeing the city at night though, this part of the trip belonged to those on it that have never been, was relaxing though.

Today However we made our way on a day trip to Cardiff,  for the doctor who experience! More of a museum and a short episode that you watched from within, but it was a nice last day for my trip, and ive got plenty of images to put up on my instagram feed...might be linking to that at some point on this blog, but for now they, and the rest of the group's posts and images can be founď on simplygeek.ca.

First day back in London

I've been there a couple times before,  heard the tours, seen the sights, so who better to bring a couple of tourists around?

But yeah, short post today, no pics...tomorrow and Wednesday should be better before I'm on my way home

Last day in Scotland!

So today in our backpacking travels we headed to the national museum of Scotland,  admittedly it was a bit more like a science center,  but it wasred some of the day for us that we were waiting for a bus to London.  This is where I saw the biggest amythest gemstone in pure condition, and I honestly wanted to add it to my colllection....but museums

Afterward we took a free harry potter themed tour of the city...no comment, but hey it was free.

Ill be on a bus overnight, but should have another post for ya tomorrow,  see you then!

I'm sorry that I won't be there to celebrate with you mom, but I will be returning with my gift to you on the 16th. Thank you for all your help with this trip. Love you mom <3 Edit: one more thing up on simplygeek.ca,  we made a video for our moms go watch!

Covering a couple of days in Scotland today, long post, sorry its late

Apologies for the delayof these posts, been a couple of long days filled with touristy stuff.

To start things off, the house we have here is wonderful; beach is steps away, the rooms we have are comfy and cottagey and our host was very helpful. All of that for a place we are only spending three days in.

The first day in Scotland was spent heading up to arthur's seat, an extinct volcano that towers over the city from its centre. The hike was a long one and we had a couple of scares, but we all got to the seat intact...and back to the bottom after a bit of a detour soaking wet . After we dried ourselves off we headed to the local pub, and were happy to find that the food was warm and cheap, enough so that we came back the next night for another meal.

For our second day we headed to Edinburgh castle, which wound up being a longer tour than we expected. I personally took an audio tour of the castle, hearing about the various sieges, royalty and changes that have happened involving this castle over six hundred years. It was good to say the least, taking five hours of our already late day.  We finished off last night with a fire on the beach, till late at night enjoying the night sky and each other's company.

Today we head to the national museum of Scotland,  see you on the next post!

Do you want to go to Scotland?

Well after a couple days of trains, and ferries too
We're just an hour away!

But seriously,  we're almost to Edinburgh on a bus at the moment.  No real pictures to share from yesterday though, sadly belfast seemed to go into hiding @6 and we wound up getting an early ferry this morning.  The ferry itself was great, similar  in style to a cruise ship,  but scaled down in size... they played frozen, hence the singing.

Anyways, likely an update tomorrow with pics, see you then.

River cruise, Jameson distillery and onwards to belfast!

Apologies for the late post again everyone, had to wait till we were on the train to belfast before I could.

Yesterday a couple of us went on a river cruise across dublin, seeing the various bridges and buildings that make the city what it is, and continue to tell its story to this day. In addition to the stories, they were told by our guide, a man born in Durham region itself! (Basicly my hometown for those of you not from canada)

Next we travelled to the old Jameson distillery,  of course there was much rejoicing from myself and I picked up another souvenir from my travels, but id like to believe everyone enjoyed themselves in learning about the triple distilled liquor.

Currently we are belfast bound, my wallet wants to kill me for the cost of the train, but we're all happy to be on our way to the next destination!

Howth & Ireland's eye

Today we did a wee bit of adventuring over to Ireland's eye snd Howth, a set of islands on the coast of Ireland just north of Dublin. Aside from that trip there was some hiking through the island's forest and around its castle. Images  will be atached and more info will be on simplygeek.ca with my friends.  See you all tomorrow!

So lets start off with the most recent activities on our trip, the fourth was a bit shorter than the other days due toa latemight on the third, so a couple of us stayed behind while the rest went to them national museum of archeology in dublin. We saw many dead bodies as well as a viking exibit and plenty of unnamed statues, but were unable to take pictures due to the museum's rules. Otherwise the rest of the day was uneventful...we made dinner, the noms were good. 

But anyways back to the third!

We started off by taking a trip to dublin castle (forgot my phone sorry no pics) and spent a good amount of time enjoying the scenery of the castle and it's gardens whilst consuming some of the best fish and chips from leo burdock's.

After wandering for a while we decided to make a trip to the guiness storehouse for a tour. (Clearly my idea) at the end of which we recieved the highlight of the overcrowded tour location - A pint of the drink itself...there was much rejoicing.  Also I picked up a new guiness hat.

We had dinner in a proper pub before coming back to our temporary home in santry, where we currently rest for the day ahead and our trip to houth.

Dublin day

Also I may or may not be on a caffeine high. Plane ride went great aside from the guys I sat next to hogging the arm rest. Will be heading off to our first bnb when the others get here. Will keep you posted!

Airport madness!

Well I got here about 2 hours ago, my flight leaves in another 2. The security line was nuts and hot as hell...very glad I brought a second shirt. Will send another post out when I get to the other side.

Title describes pretty much everything...yup

I likely won't make a post until I'm at the terminal and past security tomorrow. So to all that I couldn't see and say goodbye to today, I will see you in a few weeks, I'm sure the time will be eventful and I will have many stories to tell, some even through this blog...but until we see each-other again, this is goodbye.

Thank you all for your aid and best wishes on my trip, ill see you on the other side.

Yes the pre-trip planning is done and now its time to fill my bags...or at least make sure that i have everything and it can fit. Below you will find an image of all the things i am bringing on my trip (minus what i will be wearing on the flight over)

But seriously, im leaving in a few days, on a flight to Dublin, Ireland and I will not be back for a couple of weeks. I will be posting, on this blog and one other, my day to day updates of the trip. Mostly for the sake of keeping people informed as to just what is going on over there, but also because i know a few key people will want to keep tabs on me...I've been told I will be missed.

So! if you're interested, keep an eye on this blog, i "should" be updating it over the next couple days with things like my packing and dealing with the airports.

Needless to say I am very excited to get a vacation after all this time.
